Queering Spiritual Practice: Grey Oletsa, Adéọlá Naomi Adérè̩mí and Njoki Ngumi In Conversation

We are so excited that Grey Oletsa and Adéọlá Naomi Adérè̩mí were able to join Njoki Ngumi for our second Queer Joy conversation about spirituality, discussing the evolution and development of different spiritual practices in diverse faiths, how queerness fits into these narratives across time, and so much more!

Adéọlá Naomi Adérè̩mí is a spiritual curator and a practitioner in the field of women’s and LGBTQ health. Her work is centered around creating healing justice frameworks and infrastructures for activists and change-makers on the frontlines who are in need of spiritual guidance and protection with tools such as Reiki, Divination, and Tarot consultation. (Adéọlá also made an earlier Queer Joy contribution discussing ancestral veneration: catch it here, and find out more about her work here!)

When Grey Oletsa isn't neck deep in birth-work, they bring stories to life through writing, music, film, fiber, and a sense of humor that functions against all odds. They adore alternative music, good food you have to dig into with your fingers, and learning weird new things from Tumblr posts. Besides people-watching and participating in the simulation, Grey, also a Nairobi-based poet, creates community through art. Their work can be found on Instagram, with zines and poetry for sale on Ko-Fi, and further exciting ways to connect with them here!

Watch their reflections here.
